Re-use, repair, recycle

It’s been a year since the Folkestone Repair Café first got off the ground with a like-minded group of people coming together to add value to our community.

The Repair Café is part of a worldwide network of organisations where volunteer experts share their repair skills in clothing and textiles, book mending, small appliances, IT solutions, knife sharpening or jewellery.

Whilst it’s understood that the public brings their items at their own risk, it’s possible to learn a repair skill and prevent your items from going into landfill. Plus it’s FREE and a fun way to socialise with your community. Bonus: light refreshments are all provided free of charge too! What’s not to love?

When do we meet?

The Folkestone Repair Café is on at Sunflower House every second Sunday of the month, 10:30am to 12:30pm.

Do I need to book?

You don’t need to book to attend and you can bring your items along with you, simply sit and have a free tea or coffee whilst you wait for your item to be looked at.

I’d like to be a repairer

Great! We really need people to volunteer to repair too. So if you can sew, do minor electrics, good with IT, glass works, jewellery or any kind of repair. We’d love to hear from you.

Folkestone, UK. 10 July, 2022. Members of the local community bring in broken possessions for the team at the Repair Cafe to fix. Pictured: Jo Blach’s kettle stopped working as her husband made a cup of tea. Unfortunately the element had gone and it could not be repaired.
